Books

"Books" service at uSchola is implemented with the objective of helping the students in searching, selecting and sharing the most appropriate books.

In order to achieve this objective uSchola has developed a textbook repository that has more than 200,000 textbooks that are currently used by students from various universities around the world. Through the "Books" section students can rate, comment, mark, forward and share book among them.

Listing of each book will include information such as authors, publisher, ISBN and ISBN13. On clicking the book, student will be displayed with a short description of the book

Some of the actions available on the "Books" section are:

  • Buy - Students can search for other students who are willing to sell a used book. Students will be able to start communicating with the seller. Alternatively, the student can submit a posting indicating the "buy" interest in the book.
  • Sell - Students can search for other students who are willing to buy a used book. Students will be able to start communicating with the buyer. Alternatively, the student can submit a posting indicating the "sell" interest in the book.
  • Request Review - Students can request reviews from other students on any book straight from this page. These requests will be available as postings along with the details of the selected book.
  • Share - Students may submit a request to share any book from this section. These requests will be available as postings along with an option to contact the author. Other students can send a personalised message to the author using the contact button. Please note that, uSchola does not provide the actual book content as of now.
  • Comment - Students can comment on any book available on this page
  • Mark - Students can mark an interesting book for later use. The list of these books will be available through the link "Marked books"
  • Forward - Students can forward any book to any of his/her friends. When student clicks on the forward button, a list of all his/her friends will be listed from which he/she can pick a student to forward the book to.
  • Rating - Students are allowed to rate any book that is available at uSchola by clicking the rating stars. Students are allowed to rate a book only once. Each rating will contribute to the average rating of the book that is displayed along with each book.

uSchola provides a filter on the "Books" page through which students can filter the books.

Available "Books" filter options are displayed below:

Marked Books

This section displays all the books marked by a student so that he/she can refer to them later. The user can unmark the books anytime. If the student unmark a book, the book will no longer be available under this section.

My Shared Books

Shared book is a book for which the student has submitted a posting from the "Books" page to share. This section displays all of the student's shared books. Student can unshare the book from this page upon which the "share" posting will be deleted automatically.

Recommended Books

This section displays all the books forwarded to the student by the student's friends. The books will be displayed along with the message sent by the student's friends. Student can delete this posting from this section anytime.

Book Share Messages

This section displays all messages that the student received from other students related to book sharing.

Studen can reply to these message from this page if choose to.

Book Commerce

Students can search for other students who are willing to sell or buy used books. This list can be accessed by clicking the "Buy" or "Sell" button under each book. All the students who have expressed an interest for sell or buy will be listed and the student can start communicating with them either by sending a message or by submitting a bid or offer for the book in the currency that the seller or buyer indicated.

If the student is not able to find a seller or buyer for the book that he/she is looking for, then a new posting expressing his/her interest in the book can be submitted providing the indicative bid or offer price for the book. In this case other students who are interested in the book may contact the student when they find the bid/offer.
