uSchola provides an immensely useful feature through which students can find fellow students who want to share ride between two locations anywhere in the world. This helps the students to plan their travel with their friends while saving a lot of money in the process.
Students can submit their ride plan through this page. The ride plan must contain an origin and destination location along with the date and time of travel. These rides will serve as the pool of rides from which matched rides will be selected when a student search for a ride.
Students can search for matching rides by entering their ride plan. The ride plan must contain a start and destination location along with the date and time of travel. This ride plan will be compared with all the rides submitted by other students to find the most matching rides along with the percentage of distance that match. The matching rides will be listed in a descending order depending on the percentage of match.
Students can optionally view the map of the two routes that are matched and assess the viability of using the matched rides.
The student can then start communicating with the students related to the matching rides by sending messages. Contact information of the students will not be visible while searching for rides. The contact information will be visible only after the receving student replies to the contact message.
A sample page that lists the matching rides is given below:
A student can access all the submitted rideshare postings through this page. The student can then delete the rideshare posting if he/she doesn't want to be contacted by other students for this ride.
Student can also view all the messages received on each rideshare posting from this page. The messages are grouped according to conversations. Each conversation will contain the messages exchanged between a pair of students on the rideshare posting. Student can then reply to the message directly from this page.
