ANSYS Workbench Release 12 Software Tutorial with MultiMedia CD is directed toward using finite element analysis to solve engineering problems.... Unlike most textbooks which focus solely on teaching the theory of finite element analysis or tutorials that only illustrate the steps that must be followed to operate a finite element program, ANSYS Workbench Software Tutorial with MultiMedia CD integrates both. This textbook and CD are aimed at the student or practitioner who wishes to begin making use of this powerful software tool. The primary purpose of this tutorial is to introduce new users to the ANSYS Workbench software, by illustrating how it can be used to solve a variety of problems. To help new users begin to understand how good finite element models are built, this tutorial takes the approach that FEA results should always be compared with other data results. In several chapters, the finite element tutorial problem is compared with manual calculations so that the reader can compare and contrast the finite element results with the manual solution. Most of the examples and some of the exercises make reference to existing analytical solutions In addition to the step-by-step tutorials, introductory material is provided that covers the capabilities and limitations of the different element and solution types. The majority of topics and examples presented are oriented to stress analysis, with the exception of natural frequency analysis in chapter 11, and heat transfer in chapter 12. Table of Contents 1. Antagonism exists in the church. It leaves in its wake broken lives: people who are hurt, discouraged, and apathetic. Although only a very few persons... are antagonists, these individuals have the potential to disrupt and even destroy a congregation's mission and ministry. In this balanced and practical book, Kenneth Haugk shows how congregational leaders can learn to prevent or reduce much of the pain and suffering caused by antagonism; tell the difference between constructive, healthy conflict and destructive antagonism; and cope with antagonism when it arises.

Published to great critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, the iridescent stories in Claire Keegan's debut collection, Antarctica, have been... acclaimed by The Observer to be "among the finest contemporary stories written recently in English." In "Antarctica," a married woman travels out of town to see what it's like to sleep with a man other than her husband. "Love in the Tall Grass" takes Cordelia down a coastal road on the last day of the twentieth century to keep a date with her lover that has been nine years in the waiting. "Stay Close to the Water's Edge" tells of a young Harvard student who is pitilessly humiliated by his homophobic stepfather on his birthday. Keegan's writing has a clear vision of unaffected truths and boldly explores a world where dreams, memory, and chance have crippling consequences for those involved. The stories are often dark and enveloped in a palpable atmosphere, and the reader feels that something "big" is going on in each of these carefully sculpted tales. The award-winning Antarctica, a Los Angeles Times Best Book of 2001, and recipient of the prestigious Rooney Prize for Irish Literature, the William Trevor Prize, and the Martin Healy Award, is a haunting debut. "These stories are diamonds." -- Emily Robichaud, Esquire "That Keegan has a knack for storytelling is proved many times over...." -- Caitlin Macy, The New York Times Book Review "[These] stories ... show Keegan to be an authentic talent with a gimlet eye and a distinctive voice." -- Amanda Heller, The Boston Globe "Reading these stories is like coming upon work of Ann Beattie or Raymond Carver at the start of their careers." -- Jerry Griswold, Los Angeles Times

This comprehensive revision (3rd Edition) is a senior undergraduate or first-year graduate level textbook on antenna fundamentals, design, performance... analysis, and measurements. In addition to its use as a formal course textbook, the book's pragmatic style and emphasis on the fundamentals make it especially useful to engineering professionals who need to grasp the essence of the subject quickly but without being mired in unnecessary detail. This new edition was prepared for a first year graduate course at Southern Polytechnic State University in Georgia. It provides broad coverage of antenna types and phenomena, for operations at very low radio frequencies, as well as frequencies up to those of submillimeter wavelengths. Most antenna textbooks are written for readers proficient with vector calculus and begin with the use of Maxwell's equations in the development of antenna theory. These books do not meet the needs of many students and engineers who, because of their backgrounds or personal interests, desire a more direct path for assimilating antenna fundamentals and their connection to application topics of antenna engineering. There are problems at the end of each chapter, and answers to the odd numbered problems are included at the end of the book. Complete answers are available for instructors who adopt the book. The appendices provide technical depth to the chapters and downloadable data files are referenced in the chapters for providing a more complete treatment of antennas. In the Deluxe Edition, a full featured copy of Mathcad 14.0 is included so readers can easily create their own computer analyses. The downloadable data files provide computer solutions in both Mathcad and MATLAB to problems in the areas that follow: Reflection coefficients for surfaces versus dielectric properties, conductivity, polarization, surface roughness, and incidence angle Earth's multipath effects on antenna patterns versus surface properties, antenna and observation heights and separation distance, and polarization for flat and spherical earth models Radiating near and far fields from arrays and continuous aperture antennas, as functions of aperture phase and amplitude distributions and random aperture errors. Key Features Complete solutions available to adopting course instructors.Retains the clarity of writing and minimum of required math and theory so that a broad range of readers will benefit.Includes a brand new chapter on Electronically Steered Arrays, so important to understanding the advances in digital technology as they apply to high-speed electronics and applications in radar and communications todayProblems and Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter for homework or self-study tests of understandingMaterial and reviews have been provided by leading antenna experts and instructors: Donald Bodnar, Ed Joy, and Andrew PetersonDownloadable Mathcad files, and MATLAB files for extended study and visualization.
